Love's Not Easy (The Prodigal)

Love's Not Easy was written for my mother in law when he oldest son was getting into a lot of trouble. It was my way of telling her to let go and let God. It is dedicated to all parents and I hope I can remember the wisdom it teaches when it is time for my children to leave home.

    Love's Not Easy (The Prodigal)

    Love's not always easy,
    answers aren't cut and dried.
And when it's not the way you planned it,
you will always know you tried.

When you see your loved one's wander
from the road they should be on,
You want to reach to stop them
    long before the coming dawn.

And as the road gets darker
you'll want to build a wall
    All around your children
so they won't slip and fall

And you know that you can't hold on
when you're children start to roam.
You can just be there to love them
when they chose to come home.

    Love's not always easy,
    answers aren't cut and dried.
And when it's not the way you planned it,
you will always know you tried.
